Even though your limbs lathered me in warmth
Eager to thaw out my pessimism
Fingers undoing knots of yesterdays
With the promise of summer
The cold of winter had stripped me bare
The earth that once held strong now mush
and run over in indecisive boot prints
But I now know not to grasp so tightly, not so desperately
Today is the first day where the wind chill didn't rattle the glass figurines in my heart threatening to shatter with the slightest dissonance
I know my yearning for you will wither away
And in their own time, fresh flowers will blossom
